The Time Traveller’s Wife

Posted on October 31st, 2009 @ 9:10 am

Dear diary,

Thanks to Robb, I’ve got a pair of movie pass to watch any Fox or WB’s movies.

Hence, we watched “The Time Traveller’s Wife”.

48462667

A sad but beautiful love story! Somehow I felt like I’m watching P.S. I Love You all over again.

At first I felt that it’s a bit draggy and boring, but that’s because i didn’t know how this Time Traveller thing works and felt a bit disjointed!

Then as the story develops, it’s so good that it makes me wanna cry!

It’s kinda “Details first, emotion later.”

Oh btw I never read the book.

The Awards

Posted on October 31st, 2009 @ 1:40 am

Dear diary,

Last weekend, I was in Singapore to attend this very grand event – NAPBA (Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards) in Pan Pacific Hotel.

Few days before this occasion, I’ve been storming the shopping malls looking for ‘the perfect dress’.

And so I got this dress …

4049779679_fac8e04a34_R3

As you see, my face totally suck, not enough time for ‘proper’ hair & make up.

I wish I got my personal make-up artist and hair dresser……… someday!

That aside, the night was awesome!

Everyone was so glam in their suits & gowns… woo la la!

I’m there as a Nuffie and met up with Nuffies from Australia, Phillipines & Singapore! Also met up with bloggers from the 4 regions.

AU, SG, PH & MY Nuffies. I’m somewhere inside the photo okays…somewhere!

That night is like one big hot melting pot! Quite a cool experience!

Too bad I was walking around the whole time and didn’t take a lot of photos with a lot of people.

Here’re some photos …. that would describe the night ….

If you see a lot of photos of myself, NO, I’m not a vain pot.

But these’re the only decent ones that I have…that happened to have myself in all of them. :D

Tim & Myself at the backdrop (aka the Canon Booth)

IMG_9830_R1

Wei Zhi – She’s from kampungboycitygal.com! Very friendly and elegant!

IMG 198_R1

Vanda from Nestle – One of the nicest person around!

IMG 188R

Audrey , cute, as always! Love her dress!

IMG 184_R1

Cheng Leong from xes.cx. Looking smart right he! He’s a lawyer!

IMG 186 R

I looked so out of place! hahaha. We did the “sexy pose”….

Vernice – Pass
Rina – Pass
Me – fail
Robb – Erhhh….

Because it’s a Blogger Event and the nature of a blogger (generally) is to dress up, snap pictures, snap a lot of pictures, blog about it… hence, I found some pictures of myself on the internet (from other peoples’ blog, FB, Flickr etc).

These’re the ones that I really like….

Okays, I shall end this post with a full view of my dress!

All in all, it’s such a great event that I would surely remember for the rest of my life!

We’re Different

Posted on October 29th, 2009 @ 10:36 pm

Dear diary,

That day I was reading my friend’s blog, she blogged about the time table that I made and gave it to her during uni times. Sweet!

Nostalgic.

And so I digged around and found my time table and look at it for half an hour. *exaggeration alert

But I really miss those days you know! It’s ……. just different from working days.

Then I asked tim who studied software engineering, “How does your time table looks like?”

Immediately he showed me a piece of paper that he took out from his wallet.

This is it:

IMG 015R

Okays…can you guess which’s which?! Broadcasting vs Software Engineering.

IMG 016R

What a big difference! Do you agree?

To Arthur!

Posted on October 22nd, 2009 @ 8:42 am

Dear diary,

I’ve a very outdated post, it’s about Arthur’s Day Black Eyed Peas Concert. Boo! I know right, so long ago!

Was quite lucky to get some last minute tickets for the concert! Before that actually bought tickets to watch G-Force, wanted to sell them but didn’t manage tο, nobody wanna buy! :( So end up giving them to somebody.

So right after work, I rushed back home and got changed, then went to Sunway Pyramid to have dinner in McD.

I remember reading tweets about the McD Coke Glass, the glass looks quite nice! Hence, bought a Coke Contour Meal and got a pink glass. Wheee!

pic 788_R

Picture with Ronald!

Knowing that BEP won’t come on stage so early, we only walked to Sunway Surf Beach around 10pm.

The BEP concert is actually in conjunction with Arthur’s Day & Guinness 250th Anniversary!

pic 776R

To Arthur! :D

photo 685R

On the way to the Surf beach, we saw signs like this! Woo… “Most Remarkable Party”…. love the way they put it!

pic 770R

Nice light! Feel like carrying it back home.

When we’re at the Surf beach, BEP is on stage already!

pic 728_R

Got very big screen!

The surf beach is crowded with people. If you know mandarin, it can be described as “People Mountain People Sea”. haha

But somehow, at least still can find spots to land my feet!

Although I’m not very near to the stage, but to hear them live is just……….Remarkable!

pic 712_R

Then I noticed this guy …. what’s his name? Can someone please tell me…. I think he’s kinda cute!

pic 707_R

Fergie!! Hottie!! She sang “Big Girls Don’t Cry”

pic 726R

They did the ‘heart’ sign after singing “Where is the Love”

They sang “Meet Me Halfway” too, which became my daily soundtrack for the next 10 days after the conccert.

The last song they sang is “I Gotta Feeling”! ….. that tonight’s gonna be a good night….

Well, it is a good night!

The event ended with 5-10 minutes of fireworks. Was so surprised because I’ve never expected this!!

I think a lot of people were surprised too!

pic 759R

Overwhelmed!!

This’ truly a once in a alife time experience!

The Excitement

Posted on October 21st, 2009 @ 1:02 am

Dear diary,

Nuffnang Blog Awards in Singapore this Friday, kinda excited!

Just collected my dress … asked them to alter quite a lot times because i’m very fussy, i think they feel like slapping me with a smelly tuna fish.

But I think it’s consumer’s right! I hate it very much when I pay for something and don’t get what I want. Esp when it’s not cheap!

I remember last time when I bought my white prom dress (from another shop), the sales girl treated me quite badly! Maybe because I’ve made full payment even before alteration. So they don’t really bother. Or they’re just bad at doing business!
So the other day I went in to that same shop to hunt for my dress, it was around 9:30pm, the sales girl came and tell me “Sorry miss, we’re closing now”. Damm lazy, what kind of attitude! *frustrated*

Lesson learned. Don’t ever go into that shop again!

Okays, now that NN Awards is 3 days away, I’m worried did I forget anything?!

My checklist:

Passport – check!
Dress – check!
Heels – check!
Shades – check!
Singapore Dollars – check!

Laptop – should I or should I not?!

Please tell me if I left out anything IMPORTANT okays …….*appreciates*

Things that we do

Posted on October 19th, 2009 @ 11:01 pm

Dear diary,

I’ve always wanted to keep pets. Either dog or fishes. But my mom doesn’t allow because 1. She’s allergic to dog fur 2. She believes in Feng Shui and Feng Shui believes that keeping an aquarium in the room is not good, unless it’s 8 gold fish + 1 black gold fish, and it must be in the living room. argh, something like that!

Then, during that Sunday, me & you, we were talking about keeping pets.

The next minute, we’re in Pets Wonderland, shopping for fishes & aquarium.

I’m glad that we can have our aquarium!

photo 852R1

We bought 2 guppies (1 male & 1 female) and 2 neon tetra.

Small fishes…(start small)…bought some water plants too. Just wanna create a nice home for the little fishes.

Then we named the fishes Ruth, Dawkins, Tuna & Sardine.

photo 845R1

Few days later, we did some research and found out that for guppies, it’s better to have more females than males. Because male guppies are too horny. hehe.

And for neon tetra, they prefer to live in a big group.

So we bought another female guppy from the aquarium shop near the office, and another 2 neon tetra.

This time we named them Bambi, Salmon & Pari.

Too bad can’t visit them too often, hope they live happily ever after!

Ep3: Up North: The Finale

Posted on October 19th, 2009 @ 1:24 am

Dear diary,

So what else I did in Penang?!

Drink coconut juice!

There is this shop that sells coconut juice!  RM1 for one! So cheap!! Confirmed cannot get stuff like this in KL.

pic 077

a lot of coconuts for sale!

pic 523R

After that, Tim brought me to this place called Northam Beach Cafe!

It’s like a hawker stall but got seaview! We went there early in the evening….quite lucky to get a table by the sea.

pic 536_1

It’s a nice cafe!

Ordered typical hawker stuff like…

pic 540R

Chicken Wings…

pic 539R

O-Jian… this’s damm good!!

pic 546R

Mua-chi … got a few flavours to choose from.

Then, the sun begun to set …

The view is amazing!!!!!!!!!

pic 562_1a

I didn’t photoshop the colour of this picture ok! The sky is orangy, like what you see in the picture! Nice right?

Too bad, camera died after snapping some pics! Luckily I got some pictures of the sunset as remembrance.

Don’t think the sunset will be this nice everyday….

This was actually the last day of me being in penang… then I took a flight back to KL the next morning.

Took MAS, cost me RM113. But quite a pleasant flight, no complains. Main intention is to skip the Raya jam.

pic 618R

Guess what’s that!! ;)

Was by myself during my flight back…there’s this Westerner that sat beside me. He’s so kind to help me carry my bag down from the top compartment when arrived in KL. Didn’t know that kind people like this still exists!

The journey was short, 45 mins and I’m in KL! Took KLIA Express to the city. That’s my first time, just wanna experiment it. Only 30 mins and I’m in town.

But a bit pricey, RM35 for one way.

pic 648_2

All in all, it was quite a good trip! Thanks tim & his family for the hospitality! * big wide smile *

Ep2: Up North: Toy Museum

Posted on October 19th, 2009 @ 12:04 am

Dear diary,

That long weekend in Penang,it was really quite nice! Rest, go out, chill, get lazy…. it’s just a nice feeling!

Since started working, I begun to appreciate weekends & holidays very much. Actually since uni time also. But it’s just a different feeling!

So we googled “Penang” and found out that Penang got this Toy Museum and decided to act like a tourist and pay it a visit.

A bit reluctant when we were told to pay RM10 to go in. But turns out, think it’s not too bad!

But somehow, can be improved! The toys collection is huge but not well maintained, some got a lot of dust on it.

I took a lot of photos….a lot a lot of photos….

The outside…

pic 438R

The inside…

pic 175R

There’re toys from the movies/cartoons

Spiderman!

pic 200R

Corpse Bride!

pic 285R

Superman! So many different sizes…

pic 197R

Wall-E!

pic 176R

My favourite animation ….. Ratatouille!

pic 279R

I chose to analyze this film for my Film Studies back then. End up watching it so many times!

How nice those days, basically doing assignment/studying for this subject, my job is to watch movies.

The more the merrier! But not so fun when it comes to vintage films with grainy black & white visuals and sometimes no audio.

The Simpsons Family!!

pic 411R

Hahaha, so funny!

pic 412R

Me touching Shrek’s belly…

pic 192_1CRP

Nostalgic ones…

Elegant Barbies!

pic 154R

I remember last time I always like to comb/tie/cut their hair.

So all my barbies (& my sis’s barbies) have broken heads. Some have no hair.

I even spray some glittery powder on the clothes of one of my sis’s birthday present barbie the day she got it (all brand new).

Oh well, that time I felt that it was nice but she didn’t like it. Think she feel like punching me too.

Rugrats! Quite surprised they have it! I used to love this cartoon very much when I was a kid.

It’s a cartoon about some babies and their adventure. I can’t specifically remember the storyline. he he.

pic 417R

Doraemon….. I remember I once had a Christmas wish for Doraemon to come into my life.

It didn’t come true though. Maybe because Santa & Doraemon weren’t friends.

ok, lame~ i know.

pic 353R

X-Files ! I remember I love to watch the series when I was young because I love Agent Scully (Gillian Anderson) very much.

But everytime after I watched, I will feel very scared and always have nightmares. i was a confused little girl back then.

pic 262R pic 263R

Alice in the Wonderland!

Just the other day, I saw a trailer that “Alice in the Wonderland” by Tim Burton will be on the big screens soon (next year)!

Can’t wait!

pic 384R

Garfield the lazy cat! At one point during my life, this’s my fav cartoon character!

I got Garfield birthday cake, garfield watch, garfield soft toy, garfield everything…

I can’t tell why I like it though, I never really read the comics back then. Yes, i was a confused little girl.

pic 375R

haha, this funny fella always makes me laugh! Cos he’s too lame.

pic 158R

Saw some EROTIC ones too!

Oh well, this one not really erotic…it’s the pretty girl from Final fantasy!!

pic 342R

Warning: Pictures below don’t represent what kind of person I am. ehem.

pic 228R

pic 223R

This one here is seriously 18 SX. They placed it in the top shelf where the kids probably couldn’t see.

pic 258R

I found some very violent/horror toys too…

Say hello to Chucky!

pic 238R

Oh, so sick!!!

pic 272R pic 271R

EUuuuuu… How can these be called ‘toys’ ?! So horrifying!

I heard a kid dragging his younger brother excitedly and said: “Come see this, the heads all hanging on the candles!”

Kids nowadays…. not afraid at all!?!

pic 266R

Some that I cannot identify….but lovely ….

pic 205R

… cos it’s pink? hehe.

Cute rats….

pic 288R

Wow, damm long post with so many pictures! This’s not all of the toys yet.

If I can put them all up here, then they don’t have to open a museum and charge RM10 per head.

I spent around 1 hour plus in the museum…it brought back a lot of childhood memories to me.

Quite worthwhile!

If you grew up knowing this toys, you should go take a look, it would be quite nice!

Ep 1: Up North: Food Hunt

Posted on October 18th, 2009 @ 11:56 am

Dear diary,

During the Raya weekend (extremely outdated), I went to Penang!

I’ve been to Penang a few times in the past, but this’s the first time I’m visiting his home.

5 days 4 nights, i’m glad to have him as my tour guide!

Mainly wanted to try the local delights… but somehow get quite disappointed because the famous food places are always crowded with tourists :(

I guess KL ppl have no where to go during the long weekend, and they decided to visit Penang! okays, i’m one of them.

I remember on Sunday noon, at first we went to the Two Sisters Char Kuey Teow but they said will have to wait for 1 hour. And it’s full house! So we decided to goto the Beef Noodles Place. But it’s not open! Then drive to Air Itam for Assam Laksa. But it took us an hour plus to reach because the traffic is bad! *cranky*

Moved from one place to another, finally get to eat something for lunch and it’s already 3pm.

pic 150R

But think the journey is worth it, this’s still the best Laksa I ever had!

Also had dinner in Gurney Drive that same day… it’s not easy to get a table, and the queue to order food are exceptionally long!

Luckily there’s tim who went around to queue for food! *claps* We ordered a lot, but let me show you the MUST TRY(s).

pic 443R

Grilled Sotong – Best!!

pic 444R

Our all time favourite!

pic 440R

Fried Chicken Skin! This’s my first time eating something like that.

It’s damm good… but quite unhealthy. Once in a while, should be ok!

Sighs, feel like I miss the food so much while typing this…

Okays let’s get away from food for a while…on Sat night, he brought me to Bt Feringgi and I bought….

pic 135_2a

A hat! which I know I’ll  never wear…

He bought a pair of shades too!

pic 140_1

This is taken the next morning, when we were on our way to church.

Oh, this post is getting kinda long,  I still have a lot to share. Went to Toy Museum & more food places!

Will continue in my next post!
