How’s my tree doing?

Posted on December 30th, 2009 @ 12:55 pm

Dear diary,

Hello, I’m back in Malaysia already! How’s your Christmas?

Just logged onto Facebook and someone added me onto his Carlsberg Christmas tree!

GUESS WHO?!

caroltree

…so surprised to see it!*teary*

I thought no one would remember me for Christmas since I’m away during then…

So thoughtful of Carlsberg to have this tree, that eases up sending of Christmas greetings + a personal touch!

So we had our Christmas dinner the night after I touched down….my fav steak, baked potatoes and…

jr 022R1

my imaginary Carlsberg…

What’s Christmas without booze? What’s festive without Carlsberg?

My tree is 15 ft tall already now,  a step closer to winning the private party with FHM girls!!

Very colourful with all the different trinkets on it!

Go work on your tree now!

Greetings from Japan!

Posted on December 22nd, 2009 @ 11:33 pm

Dear diary,

Hello from Japan!

Weather was quite good and sunny these few days! Just a bit cold, 2-8 degree celsius.

Today will be my last day in Maihama (Tokyo Disneyland Area). I’m sitting in the hotel lobby with my lappie, enjoying the free wifi and piano music.

I’ve been here in Disneyland for 2 days. It’s really once in a lifetime memories. Tiring but all worth it. It’s my first time being in Disneyland & Disney Sea btw. Didn’t manage to go on ALL or Half of the rides, but was happy enough! Cos inside there it was totally a different world. Will blog more with pictures later on.

Tomorrow I shall pack my bags and go back to the city, will be staying in a hotel of Shinjuku Area.

Really sad gotta leave disneyland tomorrow! Haven’t had enough of it yet … but I know I won’t be coming back here anytime soon, because … it’s a very expensive type of happiness.

Just in case you miss me, here’s my over-exposed face:

My Virtual Christmas Tree

Posted on December 19th, 2009 @ 1:33 pm

Dear diary,

How many times have I said this already? Shouts: Christmas is around the corner!

Every time when it’s December, my tradition is to:

1. put up the Christmas tree,
2. to send out Christmas cards to my friends,
3. to listen to Christmas Carols,
4. and some other lame stuff.

But this year, I’ll be spending Christmas in Japan…I’ll be leaving real soon, way before Christmas and won’t have time to do any of those. :(

Sighs, what is Christmas without…………..overrated dinners, presents, friends, you,…………christmas tree and the booze?!

My artistic illustration of the bottle.

Then I was stalking people on Facebook and found out about this………….

A very cool poster of the Carlsberg Christmas tree….

This is a virtual tree; a tree that I can hang my virtual friends on it, and send them some virtual greetings too!

Cool stuff!

It’s so addictive to ‘decorate’ your tree by hanging your friends’ faces on your tree!

First, choose a friend. I choose Michelle.

step1

Then, choose a photo of your friend. I randomly pick a picture where Michelle’s head seem quite big, like easier to fit into the trinket.

step2

Then choose a trinket

trin⋅ket
–noun
1. a small ornament, piece of jewelry, etc.

step3

I chose one red bouncy dress for Michelle!

Then, scale the photo so that it fits nicely into the trinket…

step4

I only took 2 seconds to adjust Michelle’s head.

After that, just need to drag your friend on to the tree.

step5

Then leave her a nasty message

step6

Best part best part, you can make your tree grow by adding more friends onto your tree!

My tree is 9ft tall already…

tree

If we’re true friends, please visit my tree and help me add more friends to my tree.

I’m desperate to make my tree grow, you wanna know why?!

Before answering you, let me ask you few questions first! Answer HONESTLY ok!

16759_221390663754_85141793754_4283938_3754087_n

Is she hot?

16759_221390668754_85141793754_4283939_1059168_n

What about her?

crls 040R2 copy

Err… this one?

*shakes head* you’re too honest. :(

Okays, let me tell you why!

Because the person with the tallest tree i.e. tree with most friends can win the prize of a sponsored private party with the FHM 2010 Girl Next Door Finalists!!

FHM 2010 Girl Next Door Finalists  = Pretty girls, for examples of this, pls refer to above pictures.

Very simple real easy nothing to lose:

1. Become a fan of the Carlsberg “Nice One” Facebook profile

2. Decorate your tree! Paste your friends’ heads on the tree!

3. Paste again.

4. And again.

5. And again.

(Fade Out)

Nice one ?

Few Hours

Posted on December 19th, 2009 @ 1:30 pm

Dear diary,

Few hours later I’ll be on the plane, jetting off to Japan! This long waited trip finally coming true…

This trip, I’ll hold on to the spirit of an explorer, because I’m Kanji zero and everywhere I go will be based on my instinct.

This’s really the first time I’ve done so much research on a city, the internet is powderful!

It’s quite interesting actually, to read about a different culture and to explore a city on your own.

My sis is very helpful too, influencing me with her ‘explorer’ spirit and giving me opinions along the way esp with hotel booking etc.

Won’t be back until after Christmas! Surely gonna miss you

I shall update this space about my encounters when I’m there!

hello-kitty-color Hello Kitty, here I come!

The Poolside Story

Posted on December 11th, 2009 @ 2:49 am

Dear diary,

Evening, the weather looked pretty good. I grabbed my camera and went down to the 2nd floor poolside.

Trying, trying to capture good shots. Three things to keep me busy: shutter speed , aperture & composition.

sx 206R1

City & Green.

sx 244R

Lights coming up.

“Are you professional photographer?” A lady holding 2 kids asked me, in her strong Indian accent.

“No, just hobby.” I answered.

“Where’re you from?” I tried to be friendly.

“India…” She goes on, “…me and my husband, we’re doing shipping business here in Malaysia, we rented a unit here, on the 38th floor.”

I smiled and continued to take pictures, of her little daughter.

sx 170_R1

“We’re looking for ambitious people to join us. We’ve an upcoming seminar, maybe you give me your number, I’ll ring you.”

Being sceptical, I thought to myself, “She’s just trying her luck, I’m sure.”

But still, just to be friendly, I gave her my number.

We continued to chat for a while, on and off, with her chasing her kids, and me, taking my pictures.

I wonder, what’s she trying to get me into.

My First DSLR

Posted on December 8th, 2009 @ 4:33 am

Dear diary,

Santa heard my wish.

Decided on the brand Canon, model EOS 500D, lens 18-200mm.

ixus 043R

Canon EOS 500D

dsc 520R

On top of that, bought fixed lens (50mm, f1.8) too, which works wonders for portraits, my favourite.

This DSLR hunt was kinda stressful. A lot of thinking, a lot of walking, a lot of asking, a lot of surfing. Thanks to all who patiently answered my queries!

Initially was thinking to get Canon EOS 50D or Nikon D90. But after a lot of research, I think 50D is a little ambitious for now.

ixus 046R

Hope this 500D would do me good.

I appreciate good pictures, I love to take photos. This’s my first DSLR, I’ll make good use of it, I promise.

I’m not a pro pro pro at it, but just like to experiment. It’s a hobby. Like how some people love fishing.

Very enthusiastic to learn everything about it! Can’t believe that I spent one whole night reading through the manual.

dsc 034R

I don’t usually read manuals. This’s the first, i believe.

Bought the camera during PC fair 2 days ago, was very excited! Feels exactly like ‘bought iphone day’.

So weird right, I’m a girl that like pink stuff and all that but happens to like tech stuff, especially gadgets. I fantasize having a cute pink camera bag for the DSLR though.

Got quite a good deal, a lot of freebies like tripod, special user guide, lens pen, additional memory card etc. All those small small stuff but because it’s free it makes you feel better for the money spent.

Never regret getting the 50mm lens, exactly what I needed, for pictures like this:

Think outside the box.

Okays..will keep exploring and experimenting all possibilities of this camera! <3

My Cheese Encounter

Posted on December 4th, 2009 @ 2:50 am

Dear diary,

One fine day, I went to Cold Storage.

Stood in front of Dairy Section, contemplating whether to buy or not to buy…

…that piece of Mozzarella Cheese.

Finally, decided to splurge and bought it. RM16++ for one, not a very big one.

Used slightly less than a quarter of it to prepare this dish:

kl 032R

The Carol Butter Potatoes in Cheese, Parsley and Mint

No regrets, I love it.
