Quick & Easy

Posted on April 24th, 2010 @ 1:01 pm

Dear diary,

There’re times when my workaholic traits kick in and I would have my dinner quite late, alone.
Usually times like this I would just take-away. But seems like lately I’m being quite passionate about cooking, obviously, if you look at my previous posts. Indeed it feels healthier to have home cooked meals. Plus, lately someone stocked up the fridge with fresh greens.

Anyways lately I discover this fast and easy dish, could be a brilliant idea if you want something quick and minimal.

This dish includes rice to keep me full; veg and meat to give me the nutrients i need.

Anchovies

Posted on April 24th, 2010 @ 12:05 am

Dear diary,

One hot Sunday noon, I peeped into the fridge and found some readily peeled anchovies.

Hence decided to stir them up with dried chili and a great deal of finely chopped onions and garlic. Yum!

quite a  flavorful snack, nice to munch on while watching movies at home.

Chilli anchovies in the making.

Recipe (warning: highly based on my personal logic, observation and minimal references):

1. Fry anchovies and put aside.
2. Chop garlic and onions finely. Pound them together with dried chilis and sugar.
3. Stir fry the ingredients and anchovies.
4. Garnish with some mint leaves and serve.

Lunch from a Pan

Posted on March 26th, 2010 @ 6:16 pm

Dear diary,

Something real quick and easy.

Was really hungry one day and feel like onions. I like them raw and crunchy, accompanied by grilled mains especially.

Looked into the freezer and found some prawns, thought that would be a perfect combi.

1. Pan-fry the prawns.
2. When prawns are nearly all-cooked, throw-in freshly cut onions.
3. Serve!

Too bad my throat wasn’t feeling too well, if not I would have stir some dried chilies into it. Nonetheless, this tastes exactly like grilled prawns, and all you need is a pan.

My Cheese Encounter

Posted on December 4th, 2009 @ 2:50 am

Dear diary,

One fine day, I went to Cold Storage.

Stood in front of Dairy Section, contemplating whether to buy or not to buy…

…that piece of Mozzarella Cheese.

Finally, decided to splurge and bought it. RM16++ for one, not a very big one.

Used slightly less than a quarter of it to prepare this dish:

The Carol Butter Potatoes in Cheese, Parsley and Mint

No regrets, I love it.

My Pasta Diaries

Posted on November 26th, 2009 @ 3:12 am

Dear diary,

One fine day, I felt like eating pasta, hence I tried cooking it.

This is what it looks like…

picture 063R

I shall call it The Carol Mushroom, Herbs & Garlic Pasta.

I don’t really like it, but mom & tim said it was good.

Maybe this is not my favourite flavour then, should experiment another style the next time.

Time to pick up some oregamo, basil & parsley from Cold Storage!

Ohw and I realized that we have an oven at home. Should put it into good use!

To entertain you, here’s a silly picture of myself…

Sorry if you’re not entertained.

Sometimes I think funky shades like this can make you look trendy, in a way.

Sadly, for my case, it’s too big and makes me look like a clown.

Okays, gonna go sleep now, Avilion Ep 3 on its way! soon, soon!

Amateur

Dear diary,

Sometimes I just like to use my blog to record what I do, even if it’s something not very news-worthy like cooking.

Lately been experimenting with spices & recipes that i like…it’s actually quite fun!

My concept is, cook something QUICK, simple and something that I like to eat.

Especially when you’ve an urban lifestyle to keep up with, being real tired after work, to minimize cooking time is quite important!

Somehow, eating out is convenient, but long term, it’s just costly or unhealthy.

Okays so minus off all those that didn’t turn out good….

This one tastes quite good! I shall call it… The Carol Spicy Tenggiri with Spring Onions

IMG 012_R

That day I bought a pan from IKEA, RM12.50 only.

And it’s quite useful to make dishes like, Butter Pan Fried Veg. Yum! Something different.

Nothing fancy! Just experimenting.

Shall read up on Jamie Oliver’s, my idol !
