“I call Cambodia the Forgotten World. With photography we cannot change the world, but we can change minds and touch hearts. That is the reason why I’m a photographer … to give a voice to those in silence.” - Omar Havana
I admire him, so very much. For his courage to document life in a Cambodian rubbish dump and speak for those in silence. Read about it, here.
Today, I hold my breath while running through the back alley. Because I’m afraid of cockroaches and rats.
I feel ashamed for not seeing the dark side (to us), the simple happiness (to them) of Cambodia when I was there.
Impulsively splurged for an external flash during the KL Photography Fest.
Officially crossed out item #6 from my sidebar wishlist >
Nissin Di622 Mark II, for my Canon EOS 500D. RM470.
Have always wanted a flash, thought it would be quite useful for indoors and it gives the photo a professional boost.
Initially I was looking at the Canon 580EX Speedlite, but somehow Nissin did a pretty good job too and it’s reasonably priced.
happily lying on my bed.
Here’s a test shot with the speedlite pointing to the ceiling:
totally unedited shot of me, after the M.A.C. Holiday 2011 ‘Glitter and Ice’ Launch.
M.A.C. goodies from the launch.
Next I’m looking to get some Enelope rechargeable batteries.
It has been one month since my last update.
Chilled out with some friends yesterday, they were telling me to keep this space alive, exactly my thoughts.
Spent Sunday afternoon at Poco‘s new eatery at Sunway Giza. Cozy ambient but food a little overpriced.
Some of my friends’ picks:
Soya Green Tea Milk.
Salmon Teriyaki Set, comes with a black sesame ice-cream.
i always have lots to do on a sunday night because it’s a time that i’d fully charged up after the weekend break.
if weekend could last for 3 days i think it would be just nice.
just spring-cleaned my room (that includes vacuming!) and scrolled through inspiring stories on my google’s feed.
then i pondered long and deeply on the road not taken, and many other things in life.
probably also feeling vulnerable because of the intermittent back pain i’m enduring recently.
thinking to start a healthier diet & lifestyle this month, no oily/spicy food & work life balance.
and probably start picking up gym again, if my backache goes away.
it’s always easier said than done but i really hope i have the perseverance for this.
Just thought I should drop my feedbacks to you guys regarding my experience in Maya.
I arrived in your outlet feeling very positive and relaxed to receive some pampering and good treatment. Besides the pre-planned IPL treatment, I decided to take up your facial treatment as well.
It started off fine but halfway doing extraction, your therapist put on some lotion on my face saying that it would help to open my pores even more and it takes 10 minutes. Well I waited, and 25 minutes passed-by, but still no one attended to me. Feeling frustrated at this point, I got off the bed to open the door and at this time your therapist walked-in, apologizing for being late and all. How could you allow a customer to get off the bed, reach out to the door just to get attended to?
As a first time customer, I picked the RM98+ treatment, which is considered quite pricey for a very basic facial treatment, which turns out really really basic, not even a very detailed shoulder massage like what others offered at much lower rate. With that I’m expecting good service or at least satisfied experience. But it turns out the opposite. I felt it’s ridiculous for someone like Maya, with treatments more pricey than others in the market but having service much worse than others.
I’m left with 4 more sessions of IPL with you guys and decided that my facial experience with you guys was really bad and I’m glad that I did not agree to sign up for any packages.
