One ordinary weekday night, I came home and saw a white envelope on my desk.

I heedlessly unsealed the envelope to see what’s inside.

Birthday card, Russian characters and that familiar handwriting.

I knew it’s you, dear sis.

3 weeks late but doesn’t matter. It still feels extraordinary. You’ve transported your wishes to me par avion and that’s what matters. ♥

Dear diary,

I ran a search of the word “friends” on urban dictionary. Here’s what it gave me:

people who are aware of how retarded you are and still manage to be seen in public with you. people who make you laugh till you pee your pants.

Kind of.

The weekend after my birthday, my friends brought me to this fine Thai diner called “My Elephant“.

We ordered dishes to go with rice. Feels so grown-up to be sharing dishes like this.

Their Signature Green Curry Chicken – extremely yummy!

Tom Yum Soup – slightly different from the conventional tom yum soup. This has more flavours in it, taste a bit sweet though.

Soy Sauce Squid – this tasted quite unique!

My lovely friends arranged a surprise birthday cake for me ♥ , which however failed because the waiter just walked out and asked me do I want the cake now. Noob.

Nevertheless, I’m still touched by this sweet arrangement. I did not expect a cake, so it’s still a surprise and I love surprises.

“My Elephant” closes on 10:30pm. We still need a venue to continue tattling, hence we headed to Brussels Beer Cafe.

I had my Blackthorn Cider … and a few sips of Hoegarden Light.

Around midnight we said goodbye and I walked home with a gift, from Jia Hui. It was a huge gift and she had to wrap it up in two boxes.

It is a lamp from IKEA. How thoughtful!

Gracias for filling my Saturday night with gleesome memories, I look forward to seeing you guys again. ♥

Dear diary,

I love surprises.

It was after 6. I was concentrating on my PC, vaguely heard some mischievous chuckles. I turned around but realized everyone wasn’t at their seats.

Before I could guess what happened, Juliah walked out from nowhere with a chocolate macaroon cake (extremely yummy!) together with the rest of the team.

They caught me by surprise, on the day I turned 22.

(I have no idea why are there 5 candles on the cake)

It’s tiny and extremely cute! The second I unwrapped this present, I thought to myself, “This’s so me.“ The person who bought this probably know me very well. After one full day of guessing, I found out it’s darling Juliah that bought me this gift! ｡◕‿◕｡ *big hug*

To turn 22 on the 22nd, this only happens once in a life time. Happy Birthday to me.

There was once I went shopping with lovely. We passed by Q Jelly and I dragged her in to take a closer look at the jelly cakes.

I randomly told her “I want this for my birthday”, pointing at one of the displays.

She just smiled.

7 months later, today, she came home with a jelly cake and a birthday card, “SURPISE”, she said.

I’m touched by not how yummy the cake was, but how you remember the random silly things I said and you made them come true for me.

Lovely, is my mom.
